Full text

Abstract:

Lakes are an essential element of some of the world’s most popular tourism destinations. One of the most relevant resources of lake and coastal tourism, in general, is climate. Due to the climate change, the characteristics of tourism market may be rearranged to a significant degree. In this paper, the authors intend to discuss the topic from an aspect that has been in a focal point to a limited degree, i.e. to forecast the possible effects of global climate change in Hungarian and Finnish lakes. We can be certain that in case the impacts of the climate change have an influence on tourism, such will be effect mainly coastal and mountain areas. Consequently, we must prepare for the prevention of such problems in tourism destinations at riversides and lakes.
